The stops repeat because they are the ones people come for. At Fontaine-de-Vaucluse the Sorgue rises at the foot of a cliff more than 200 m high. Gordes, Roussillon, Ménerbes and Les Baux are all on the list of the Plus Beaux Villages de France. The Pont du Gard, the Roman aqueduct bridge, rises to nearly 48.77 m, and several full days stop there. In the lavender weeks some days also stop at Sénanque Abbey, from outside.
The villages are spread across the hills, and every stop means finding somewhere to park. The ProVans days put the parking in the fare, and one of them the tolls and fuel as well. At the aqueduct alone a car pays EUR 9 for the day.
The longest days give you about five and a half hours on the ground at seven stops, from the spring to the aqueduct. You would struggle to match that on your own and still find each car park.
